I did the wipe data/factory reset but to no avail. All data in tab remains intact even I did the wipe cache. Headphones and speakers work when manually toggled but the jack detection itself seems broken....

It would have to be changed back manually, around the same time the “Home” screen would randomly pop up as if someone pressed the “HOME” button on the remote. I pulled the side white panel off where the power button is, and when it was off the frame, the led power light came on about 2 time and since then, nothing. Download your original OS from Digital River. Download your drivers on a USB Create installation USB or DVD for the OS. Install Activate with your serial - now you have clean and legal Windows 7 at no additional cost. Cheers! mike hryszko, if you formatted the drive and lost the recovery partition, you will have to either get an HP restore disk (contact HP) or purchase an OS, in your case Win7, and install as per software vendor instruction
