Chosen Solution Hi all, Looking for tool advice to fix my tower. I think it has been knocked and the board has come loose for the display. It still powers up but I’m getting no visual and where the lead connects to the back for the monitor appears loose. Before I open it up I just wanted some advice on proper tools I would need to fix it. They are available overseas but I am yet to discover how to get one sent to me in Australia. Chosen Solution I just had to fix a flea power problem. The solution said to remove the battery. fortunately, that wasn’t necessary because the 3 larger screws are cemented in. Well, maybe just Loctite, but I cannot break them loose. What they screw down is the plastic battery frame, so how do I break them loose? Obviously, heat may melt the frame. What I’ve done before is I’ll put a little extra pressure on the chassis, but the problem with that is if the LCD is attached to the laptop, it’s very risky – granted, I’ve never broken an LCD doing this because I take precautions and know when to back off, but these Dells aren’t cheap to replace it on if you break it since you need the assembly for the XPS – granted, the Latitudes with the “normal” bezel can have the screens serviced but it’s a pain and cost is similar to a used assembly so they are also “assembly swap” in practice, but not in design....

Chosen Solution Might not be specific to this exact laptop model, but I am wondering if anyone has any methods for removing damaged or “stripped” screws. Need to take out 8 screws from this laptop so that I can get to the battery, but it has proven difficult due to damage and only 3 were easily removed. I’ve tried the rubberband method and I’ve tried drilling into them. At this point, I wouldn’t oppose prying it open if I can get almost all of the screws out… any tips?...

Chosen Solution Need a replacement screen Hi @bustique Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. Go to p.97 to view the procedure to remove the LCD panel. The are two Types of T540P laptop models, Type 20BE and Type 20BF (Type # is shown on the product info label on the bottom of the laptop) but they both share the same LCD panels. Here’s an image showing the part numbers for the available panels....

Chosen Solution i bought just a digitizer for the ipad mini 5 on amazon not realizing its not like the first couple of ipad minis the lcd is combined with the digitzer so is it even possible to seperate the lcd from the digitizer on this ipad? I would say you want to return the part if you can. Usually to do a glass only repair you have to have special equipment since you have to separate the old glass then re-adhesive the new glass to the old LCD and make sure you don’t have any defects or get anything trapped under the glass when doing it....

Chosen Solution I dropped my laptop and the corner of the metal frame bent into the laptop and is slowly pulling the laptop apart. You have to change the chassis. There isn’t really any other way I just did this to my xps 13. The hinge could not open all the way. All I needed to fix it was to open the laptop slightly, wedge a smooth flathead screwdriver between the two metal covers (top/bottom) near where they contact and gently pry against the bent section to unbend it....

Chosen Solution Perhaps I’m an idiot, but I’m in the midst of replacing the bezel on this Ipad 2 2560 and cannot figure out how to use the adhesive yellow strips that shipped with the new bezel. I figured they would be double-sided tape of some kind but I cannot get them to split, even using magnifying glasses and a razor. Chosen Solution Help! My Mac is crashing during the startup. I’ve tried running disk utility - it says that disk utility cannot repair this disk. I’ve tried booting as a single user and running fsck -fy and still get a message that the hard drive can’t be repaired. Something about incorrect packet count wifi.log should have 124 but has 125. I don’t have a back up (bad.. I know). I’ve tried to go into disk utility to create an image of the disk on an external hard drive, and get an error message that An image cannot be created....

Chosen Solution When I plug it in it charges for a bit and the soon starts rapidly charging and stopping. Nothing is touching it and I’ve tried fidgeting with the charger by the charging port but it doesn’t change anything. I’ve also tried with other cables and they don’t help.
