I have tried re-seating the connector Did this happen on its own or after a screen replacement? Have you tried doing a reset of the phone? If it happened after a screen replacement, I would try replacing the home button extension cable that is attached to the thermal plate. It can get damaged during the repair and cause the home button to malfunction....

Chosen Solution I removed the built in superdrive, and replaced it with an SSD. I have a USB apple superdrive that i purchased a couple years ago, and it says “Apple USB SuperDrive is not supported on this mac.” I am using mojave - 10.14.2 I have not tried this my self, but see if this works for you How to make the MacBook Air SuperDrive work with any Mac (El Capitan onwards)

I would recommend plugging it in over night. Try to get a full charge and try to turn it on. If this doesn’t work, try and let it die fully.
